How do we approach difficult conversations in our lives around racism and other systems of oppression, and specifically those arising in relation to the current uprising? What frameworks, tools, and interventions can support us to stay grounded and present as we connect with friends, family, and others about challenging topics? Using small and large group discussion, body-based awareness practices, and role play, we will practice together to build skills that can stay with us, especially as we support others in taking action.
Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday • July 21, 2020 - Sep 3, 2020 • 6:30pm - 9:30pm Social movements throughout history have engaged in political education to inform organizing and action in the streets. By studying the histories and systems of what we resist, we deepen our understanding of injustice, and learn to take strategic, effective action to dismantle white supremacy. We are also responding to Black peoples' longstanding call for white people, in large numbers, to talk, study and take action with each other so we can confront white supremacy in our workplaces, schools, with our families and throughout our lives. Learning in community makes our movements strong. We train up, so we can show up!
Are you looking for a learning community to challenge racism? Do you want to learn more so that you can become a resource for your community? Would you like to find out how to take action locally and be accountable?
