This space is to support the difficult emotional work of dismantling white supremacy within ourselves and our communities in order to fortify our hearts, minds, and bodies to continue to show up for racial justice. We will provide opportunities to explore internal barriers that are holding us back from living out our desire to work for racial justice and practice how to deeply listen to each other to create a culture that supports calling people into the movement from a place of love. We utilize large group and small group dialogues that are grounded in theories of social change and anti-racist white identity development. We see this space as open to any white person who is interested in honest conversation, reflection, and confrontation with race, racism, and white privilege. This space is intended to be a support to help people to build resilience in order to move into a more active role in dismantling white supremacy.

Are you tired of seeing our schools and communities struggle to secure adequate funding while big corporations rake in record profits year after year? Proposition 15 will allow cities and counties to invest in schools and crucial public services by making large, wealthy corporations pay their fair share in property taxes. If we truly value Black life, we will vote to enable our government to fund services in Black communities that have suffered decades of disinvestment.
Help us reach out to SURJ members to discuss why now, more than ever, it is critical to close corporate tax loopholes and return vital resources to our schools and communities by passing Prop 15: Schools and Communities First.

Two years ago, SURJ Bay Area worked with our partner Initiate Justice to gather signatures for the Voter Registration and Democracy Act ballot initiative. That ballot initiative has morphed into Prop 17, the Free the Vote initiative, sponsored by Initiate Justice, which is on Californians' ballots right now. Prop 17 will restore the right to vote to people with felonies on parole in the state of California. Come learn about how we got here and what we can do to support this state-wide ballot initiative.

Join us to learn more about the prison industrial complex and the bail system, practice talking about them, and learn how you can plug in to make sure Prop 20 doesn’t erase years of progress on prison reform in California. (While SURJ has not taken a stance on Prop 25, we will be learning more about the complex history leading up to this proposition and the potential impact of its passage or failure.)
