Saturday Dialogues: Creating a Call-in Culture

1/22/2022

Saturday, January 22, 2022 • 11:00 AM - 1:00PM • Online

Were you taught that your individual identity was more important than your connection to your community? Does your sense of individual responsibility lead to feelings of guilt that prevents you from showing up fully for racial justice work? Have you been looking for a "life hack" or quick fix to end racism? Our current system was created for white people to buy into the concept of individualism and forget about our part of a collective. We have been conditioned to believe that there are quick fixes to problems and then when things don't change we give up. In this session we will explore the White Supremacy Culture Characteristics of Individualism and Sense of Urgency. We will look into how these characteristics show up in our lives and explore ways to show up for racial justice as part of a collective committed to the lifelong work of dismantling white supremacy.
Saturday Dialogues support the difficult emotional work of dismantling white supremacy within ourselves and our communities in order to fortify our hearts, minds, and bodies to continue to show up for racial justice. We provide opportunities to explore internal barriers that are holding us back from living out our desire to work for racial justice and practice how to deeply listen to each other to create a culture that supports calling people into the movement from a place of love. We utilize large group and small group dialogues that are grounded in theories of social change and anti-racist white identity development. We see this space as open to any white person who is interested in honest conversation, reflection, and confrontation with race, racism, and white privilege. This space is intended to help people build resilience in order to move into a more active role in dismantling white supremacy.
