Join SURJ in supporting the annual statewide lobby day in Sacramento sponsored by Legal Services for Prisoners with Children/All of Us or None (LSPC/AUON) for formerly-incarcerated people and family members with incarcerated loved ones.
Quest for Democracy Day supports pending legislation that affects people impacted by incarceration and this year, SURJ is being asked to lobby alongside LSPC/AUON members coming from all over California.
The day will include a training workshop on sponsored bills and on effective legislative advocacy. Then Action Teams will visit each legislator’s office to advocate in person, followed by a rally on the Capitol steps that lifts up the voices and leadership of those most affected by the prison industrial complex.
Lunch and t-shirts will be provided to all participants. SURJ is also committed to raising funds to cover our own costs as well as support LSPC/AUON cover the costs of trainings, transportation, meals and lodging for this massive statewide mobilization.
Here are three ways to show up:
• RSVP below to join us in Sacramento! The cost of lunch and the t-shirt is $25. If you can cover that, great. But no one will be turned away for lack of funds. For comp tickets or questions, email email@example.com. If you can contribute more, that will help LSPC/AUON with all the expenses involved with this massive statewide mobilization. Carpools are also being organized! Let's roll together!
• Make a Donation! Even if you can't go to Sacramento, you can still support Quest for Democracy Day by helping cover the costs of trainings, transportation, meals, and lodging for this massive statewide mobilization. DONATE HERE
• Spread the Word! You can help get the word out about Quest for Democracy Day to your friends, co-workers, neighbors, organizations, communities, and through social media. Share this page or the Facebook event page and help us get as many people as possible to Sacramento on May 30th.
NOTE: If you are a formally-incarcerated person or a family member, and want to participate in the Sunday, April 29 Training Day as well as the Monday, April 30 Lobby Day, find more info here.
