Webinar: Black Migrants Trapped in Mexico, with Special Guest Kendrick Sampson Join Black Alliance for Just Immigration (BAJI) online to hear about conditions in Tapachula, Mexico, where hundreds of Black immigrants from the Caribbean and Africa have been protesting, trapped in southern Mexico by the U.S. ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy. BAJI’s Executive Director, Nana Gyamfi, and Legal Manager, Tsion Gurmu, were joined on an emergency trip to Tapachula by actor/activist Kendrick Sampson, co-founder of BLD PWR. They’ll share their first-hand account of the denial of civil liberties they witnessed and share what the demands and needs are of the some 20,000 Black immigrants at our Southern border whose stories are untold and their plight overlooked. An Evening with Land & Water Protectors Climate Justice SF and Intertribal Friendship House invite you to hear firsthand accounts of Indigenous-led resistance to pipelines. Three of the most effective organizers on Turtle Island – Anne White Hat, Cherri Foytlin, and Mark Tilsen – will talk about about ongoing work against Energy Transfer Partners, community resiliency in the Gulf South, and visions and plans for how to fight back. The event will also feature Mutual Aid Media’s film “L’eau Est La Vie: From Standing Rock to the Swamp.” The event is free but donations for the speakers are appreciated. Free Screening of the Film “Waking Dream” followed by Panel Discussion Join Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity and First Presbyterian Church for an evening of film and dialogue. “Waking Dream” weaves together the stories of six undocumented young people as they sit in limbo between deportation and a path to citizenship. The post-screening panel will broaden immigration discourse beyond DACA and provides concrete ways to act.
