#ShowUpRiseUp Fundraising Campaign
Support local Black, Indigenous, & People of Color groups, SURJ chapters in rural areas, & local SURJ work!
When we show up together for racial justice, we RISE UP together!
We invite you to join us in showing up for racial justice by donating to #ShowUpRiseUp, our SURJ Bay Area 2021 end of year fundraising campaign. People pooling their resources has always been a key part of revolutionary change in our country and, in fact, no movement can succeed without it.
The last couple of years have been tumultuous ones for our country, greatly revealing the depth and scale of racial injustice built into the fabric of the United States. As we close out 2021, we invite you to continue to commit to racial justice, joining the movement for our collective liberation.
To close out this year, we have set high goals for our #ShowUpRiseUp campaign: we hope to get 1,000 people to contribute. You might notice our goal for this campaign is in terms of people, not dollars. That reflects our belief that whether you're tossing a dollar, five, fifty, or a thousand into the bucket, what matters is that you're showing up in whatever way is meaningful to you. We're so glad you want to pitch in and be a part of this movement!
In terms of what your contribution does, 70% of funds raised will go to our 15 partner organizations that are led by Black, Indigenous, and Other People of Color. These organizations focus on the prison industrial complex, immigrant solidarity, police and state terror, and displacement and gentrification, and are working on the front lines, every day, to help create a more racially and socially just world. Learn more about our partner organizations here.
The other 30% will be used to organize white people against white supremacy. We must educate, fire up, and organize a lot of white people in order to bring more white people into this fight, and your gift will help us get there. That work takes money and these dollars are necessary to building a multi-racial majority for justice. We will split these resources between supporting SURJ National as they work in poor and mostly rural white communities and our chapter to sustain our work as we move into 2022.
All donations are tax-deductible; a statement documenting your donation will be emailed to you for your records.
